Privacy Policy
How YourOrderBook collects, uses and protects information gathered through this website.
Overview
This privacy policy explains how YourOrderBook collects, uses and protects information gathered through yourorderbook.com. It applies to this website and to the tools and forms available on it.
By using this site, you signify your acceptance of this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site.
Information we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us. You can use most of this website, including the interactive tools, without telling us who you are.
- When you contact us, we collect the information you provide — your name, email address, phone number, the area of your business you would like to improve, and your message — so that we can review and respond to your enquiry.
- When you ask to see a detailed result from one of our calculators, we ask for your email address and send a one-time verification code to it. After you verify, if we do not already have them, we ask for your name, phone number and a few details about your business before showing the result.
- When you use the Business Audit, we collect your name, company name, email address, phone number, industry, the area you want to improve, the methods and problems you select, and any process description you choose to enter. We also store a one-way hash of your IP address, your browser information and the page you arrived from.
- When you use this site, our server records ordinary technical information with a submission: the browser you used, the page you arrived from, and a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself.
You can always refuse to give us personal information, although some parts of the site — sending an enquiry, or seeing a saved calculator result — will not work without it.
Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies and browser storage for essential website functions only. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
- A security cookie, which protects forms on this site against being submitted from somewhere else.
- A cookie holding a random identifier for your browser, so that a result you have already verified can be shown to you again without asking you to verify a second time. It contains a random value and nothing else — no name, email address, phone number or any other detail about you.
- Your browser's own storage, used to remember your progress through interactive tools on this site so that your answers are not lost if you scroll away or come back later.
You may set your browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, please note that forms and interactive tools on this site may not work. Our cookies page describes all of this in more detail.
Answers you give to interactive tools
When you answer the questions in the improvement tool on our home page, your answers are kept in your own browser so that your progress is preserved. They are not sent to us at that point, and they stay on your device until you clear your browser storage.
When you submit a calculator on this site, the figures you entered are sent to our server and stored so that your result can be produced and shown to you again later.
If you start a detailed calculator result but do not complete email verification, the pending result expires after 24 hours. Expired pending runs may be removed from our records.
How we use information
We use the information described above for the following purposes, and no others:
- To read and respond to an enquiry you have sent us.
- We use Business Audit information to review the process you describe and respond to your request.
- To produce and show you a result from a calculator you have used.
- To send a one-time code when you ask us to verify your email address.
- To keep the site working and to protect it from abuse, such as automated or repeated form submissions.
We do not operate a mailing list and we do not send marketing emails. If you contact us, we reply about your enquiry.
Analytics
This website does not currently use any third-party analytics or tracking service. No analytics script runs on these pages, and no information about your visit is sent to an analytics provider.
If we add an analytics tool in future, we will update this policy to say which one and what it collects before we start using it.
Sharing information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Running a website means some information is necessarily handled by the services we rely on — for example the provider that hosts this site and stores its data, and the service that delivers email. These providers process information on our behalf so that the site can work. We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.
How we protect information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. These include transport encryption, protection against cross-site form submissions, limits on how often forms can be submitted, and storing identifiers as one-way hashes rather than as the original values.
No website or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as the website changes. The date at the top of this page tells you when it was last updated. We encourage you to review it from time to time so that you stay informed about how we handle the information we collect.
